The Seven cards are all about waiting. Maybe we know what we want. Maybe we don't, but we know that we want something. We know there is more than just the surface truth. There is depth and meaning available to us if we can just figure out what our purpose is.
The Seven of Cups speaks to us of temptation. There are so many possibilities; so many shiny things. But which one do I pick? I want them all.
I want to do everything. I want to read fortunes. I want to make jewelry. I want to paint abstracts. I want to write poetry. I want to play with watercolor. I want to wander in the cemeteries. I want to photograph everything. I want to do everything that I want to do.
The Seven of Cups warns against this scattered energy; against grabbing for everything and trying to possess it all. We have to focus. Pick one. Just one.
Put your energy there. Don't be distracted by the temptation of that new shiny. Focus on your goal. Walk with deliberate purpose and energy toward that goal.
I am trying. I am focusing on completing this deck (allowing myself only the occasional distraction). I want to complete this project, but I am also intent on enjoying it.
The journey is every bit as important as the destination. Besides, once I finish the deck, I will want to start a new project. Enjoying every last minute of the creative journey really is the most important thing.
Shinies will just have to wait.
